Joinery & Our Unique Twin TenonsA pegged mortise and tenon joint is the strongest possible way to connect two pieces of wood in furniture construction, and it is the foundation of our furniture.
 Twin TenonsThe twin tenons on the front posts of chairs and love seats are a design feature unique to our furniture. These rectangular through tenons are specially designed to continue the flowing line of the legs up through the arms. Because the legs are rectangular in cross section a traditional bulky square tenon is inappropriate. The twin tenon takes twice as long as a single square tenon to construct and requires more precision in the cut, but the added strength from increased glue surface and the striking visual effect make it well worth the extra effort.
Wedged TenonsThe challenge of creating outdoor furniture that will steadfastly withstand the effects of weather and wear has been met with our wedged tenon joint. The joint is absolutely unbreakable. The tenon fits inside a tapered mortise and is secured with a Honduras Mahogany wedge to create a splayed tenon. The result is a failure-proof lock that will last for generations–come rain or shine.
